A favorite seasonal event at Mulberry Cottage was Scarecrow Making with Father's. Everyone brought some warn-out clothing, maybe a silly hat, or old socks. In the yard we had already opened up bales of hay, hauled ourselves (3 and 4 year olds and dog) from the front yard by wagon. And now it was time to stuff stuff stuff to make our Scarecrows.
The children picked a pumpkin from our many orange gold friends about the yard for the head. And the engineers among us used found sticks and bamboo to stretch out the beings. So fun to see them arrayed in wagons for the journey back down the lane. Yes we even had a fun circle together (more on this to come in our Private FB Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/mulberrycottagerevisited). Treats were made during the school week, provided by the families, and even once a Dad brought his camp stove and made us all pop corn.
The day was never done until the greatly anticipated (especially by the older siblings who joined us) PULL for PEACE Game (asks tug of war). Good rope is so important for any Early Childhood program and we had a special great one for this!
I hope you enjoy the images!
